A & M Environmental Contracting offers the services of Underground Tank Remediation and Decommissioning
Two basic strategies exist for dealing with the decommissioning of underground tanks, removing clean tanks and feed lines and the entombment of clean tanks and removal of feed line.
In cases where the property is needed for the future development of buildings, clearing the tanks from future building footing areas and potential basement spaces is required. On properties where the future use does not conflict with the tank location and it is possible to entomb the tanks this option can greatly reduce the scope of work and overall cost.
The photos show the scope of both strategies;
Entombment of clean tanks A safe work area is established on the site for equipment staging, excavated earth and the digging zone above the tanks. The digging of the pit to access the top of the tank(s) and clear feed lines from the tanks is executed by the dig team. The tanks are cut open and rinsed clean by a special waste management service, tested and inspected by the proper governing agencies (based on the location of the project). With a clear and clean go ahead from the City, a concrete slurry mix is scheduled to fill the tank void. Once the pour has been made into the tank the pit is cleared and filled with the re-compaction of the excavated earth.
